What is a Niddy Noddy?

A Niddy Noddy is a tool that was used from 1750-1850 to measure yarn from a spinning wheel into a skein. Niddy Noddy, Niddy Noddy Two heads and one body.  Here’s one, T ain’t one Twill be one, bye and bye Here’s two, T ain’t two Twill be two, bye and bye.

As a long time spinner and weaver of yarn the Niddy Noddy was my favorite tool to share with children and adults.
